Popular folk group Kobukuro has announced that they will be releasing a new single called “Ryuusei” (meteor) on November 17th. The title is a match for the Fuji TV drama “Nagareboshi” (shooting star), and it has appropriately been appointed its theme song.
This will be the first new single for the duo in about a year and fourth months, and as of now, the single is only planned to be released in a CD version with two tracks: the title track and an instrumental.
The drama is already getting a lot of attention in Japan as the starring role will be played by the handsome and popular Takenouchi Yutaka. He will play someone caught in a loveless marriage who then finds true love with his co-star, Ueto Aya.
Also appearing in the drama will be singer/actress Kitano Kii, who will play the role of Takenouchi’s sister who falls ill with a serious disease. Matsuuda Shouta will play the role of her doctor. It will be interesting to see Kobukuro’s new song in relation to such a serious drama.
KOBUKURO's Kobuchi Kentaro has retrieved the image of "the shooting star floating through space" from the jelly fish of the series' script. Takenouchi added his suggestion to the producer since "As a kid I have seen jelly fish as 'stars', therefore we tried to weave it in with the dorama title." Getting to know about the title of the theme song to be "Nagareboshi", the producer thought that it was "a title full of fate and it was decided immediately", matching the image of those two with that of the "star". And while Kobuchi thought that "this outcome was incredible", the dorama title was decided through the unusual song and it's title during the production process.
For the lyrics and arrangements Kobuchi imagined that "shootings stars have a slightly sorrowful feeling to them. " "Waiting for someone that shares the stars of the same star sign, and while it is like disappearing soon, rushing through the night alone. We put this scene into the love song. " Kobuchi said.
The song is going to be used as a dorama theme song on Fuji TV (Monday 21:00h, no date) so, this is going to be a different song from the news posted by saladesu , as Bakuman will be broadcasted by NHK.
By the price I guess it's going to be just one song?
BTW, this is Kobukuro's first release (not counting ALL COVERS BEST), since August last year!! And it might be just one song T_T
